Intercooler Spray

I am convinced that the usual theory about intercoolers is flawed - their primary effectiveness is not to cool the air from the turbo when at a steady speed, etc., but (in my humble opinion) is to act as a heatsink by which the compressed air from the turbo can be cooled during hard acceleration, etc., Subsequent driving cools the intercooler which then can act as a heatsink again. In other words it helps to damp rapid increases in air temperature.

Using the OBD reader to trigger it, I fitted a high pressure pump, reservoir and fine misting nozzles to my Saab Viggen, directing the mist onto the intercooler.

The smart money seems to be on using a mixture of methanol and water, the methanol evaporating more quickly.
